JABALPUR: In every 20 seconds one person was caught riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet in Madhya Pradesh in the month of October.
Such is the condition that in just one month, the government recovered Rs 3.91 crore as penalty and fine from helmetless two-wheeler riders in Madhya Pradesh in the month of October. Overall, a total of around Rs 6.82 crore have been recovered from traffic violators in the state in the month of October.
State government informed this in an affidavit submitted before the MP high court during the hearing of a petition.

As per the information provided by government a total of 1,00,830 people were fined for not wearing helmets in urban areas of the state in the month of October and Rs 2.5 crore was recovered from them, likewise 54,969 people were fined for not wearing helmet in rural areas and fine of Rs 1.4 crore was recovered, thus overall 1,55,799 people were fined for not wearing helmet in the state and Rs 3.91 crore was recovered from them as fine.
Apart from it, 508 people were caught driving without valid licenses and 1,119 people were found to be over speeding in the state in the month of October, the government informed the court.
In the same affidavit, the government has also informed that 1,811 people were fined for parking vehicles in no parking zone, 3,770 were fined as their vehicles were not having valid registration numbers, 2,785 were fined for jumping red lights at traffic signals in the state in the month of October.
